Investigating reproducibility in multiphase flow metrology: Results from an intercomparison of laboratories

This paper presents the results of an intercomparison multiphase flow laboratories. Conducted as part EMPIR project 16ENG07 – MultiFlowMet II, primary focus investigation was to determine influence laboratory-specific factors on reproducibility measurements made by metres (MPFMs). To minimise these effects much possible, a portable transfer package designed, including MPFM, transparent viewing section, and straight pipe section with length 100 internal diameters. A parameter, ζ, developed quantify both package. Across three laboratories, metrological compatibility achieved for majority test points. By presenting ζ values functions gas volume fraction (GVF) water liquid ratio (WLR), it possible identify regimes that may be more susceptible reductions in reproducibility.
